Emotional Intelligence in Artistic Leadership

About the Project

In November 2025, young people from across Europe gathered in Freudenstadt, Germany, to take part in the Erasmus+ Youth Exchange "Emotional Intelligence in Artistic Leadership." The project brought together participants from Germany, Serbia, Croatia, Sweden, and Türkiye, creating a space where creativity, collaboration, and emotional awareness could flourish.

In today's rapidly changing world, emotional intelligence is considered one of the most important skills for the future. According to the World Economic Forum, it plays a key role in leadership, teamwork, and effective communication. Through this exchange, participants explored how emotional intelligence can be developed through artistic expression and non-formal education.

The project demonstrated how non-formal education can empower young people to become more empathetic, confident, and resilient leaders — combining art, leadership, and emotional awareness into a transformative learning experience.

The "Emotional Intelligence in Artistic Leadership" project aimed to:

  • Develop emotional intelligence skills among young people through artistic and non-formal learning methods.
  • Foster intercultural dialogue and cooperation between young people from five European countries.
  • Strengthen leadership capacities by integrating emotional awareness into everyday practice.
  • Provide practical tools for youth to apply emotional intelligence in their communities and future roles.
  • Promote the value of non-formal education as a driver of personal and social development.

Project Activities

The youth exchange was structured around several key activities:

  • Interactive Workshops on Emotional Awareness — Participants explored how to recognize and manage their emotions, gaining tools that help them remain calm and focused in challenging situations.
  • Artistic Expression Sessions — Through various art forms, young people engaged in creative processes that allowed them to express and reflect on their emotional experiences.
  • Intercultural Exchange — Bringing together participants from five different countries created a rich environment where young people could share perspectives and learn from one another.
  • Leadership Development Activities — Participants worked on practical skills for integrating emotional intelligence into their daily lives, community work, and future leadership roles.

Expected Results and Impact

Through the youth exchange, participants developed important skills that are essential for young leaders today:

  • Improved ability to recognize and manage emotions in challenging situations.
  • Greater intercultural understanding and openness through collaboration with peers from five countries.
  • Practical tools for applying emotional intelligence in community work and leadership roles.
  • Increased confidence in using artistic expression as a method of personal and social development.
  • Strengthened networks between youth organisations across Europe.

Ultimately, the project empowered young people to become more empathetic, resilient, and conscious leaders — ready to contribute positively to their communities and the wider European society.
The project was funded by the Erasmus+ programme.
