The Earth Speaks When You Listen
- Ankara, Türkiye 5-13 October 2024
About the Project
The Erasmus+ Youth Exchange "The Earth Speaks When You Listen" brought together young people from Serbia, Germany, Italy, Finland, Croatia, Spain, and Türkiye to confront one of the most urgent challenges of our time the climate crisis.
At the core of the project lies a powerful and urgent message the climate crisis, though not always treated as the world's top priority, is rapidly becoming the defining challenge of our time. The project was built on the recognition that humanity is an integral part of the natural world, and that the deterioration of our environment directly threatens our collective future and survival.
Rather than focusing solely on the scale of the problem, the exchange sought to inspire action demonstrating how even small, individual changes can contribute to a broader social movement. By empowering young people to share their stories, ideas, and steps toward change, the project aimed to amplify youth voices on both local and global levels, turning awareness into meaningful action.
The project aimed to:
- Raise awareness among young people about the climate crisis and its significance as the defining global challenge of our generation.
- Encourage young people to contribute voluntarily to climate solutions and take proactive steps in their daily lives and communities.
- Demonstrate how minor individual changes can accumulate into a broader social movement capable of driving real impact.
- Empower young people — especially those facing social and economic disadvantages — to have a voice in decisions that will shape their future.
- Inspire participants to influence larger groups and accelerate the adoption of sustainable solutions at local and global levels.
Project Activities
Throughout the exchange, a multifaceted and dynamic approach to non-formal learning was employed, combining a wide range of methodologies to ensure a holistic and immersive experience for all participants:
- Icebreakers and Warm-Up Sessions — Building trust and group cohesion among participants from seven different countries from the very start.
- Informal Learning Sessions and Presentations — Exploring the science, impact, and urgency of the climate crisis through engaging and accessible formats.
- Collaborative Group Work — Participants worked together to identify practical solutions and develop ideas for climate action in their home communities.
- Creative Video Demonstrations — Young people produced visual content to communicate their climate messages and inspire peers beyond the exchange.
- Dramatic Presentations — Using creative and performative methods to bring climate stories to life and provoke reflection.
- Analysis and Evaluation Processes — Participants critically assessed current approaches to the climate crisis and explored what meaningful change looks like at individual, community, and policy levels.
- Active Learning Methodologies — Throughout all activities, participants were encouraged to engage, question, and contribute — ensuring both theoretical understanding and practical application.
